This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade students walked through the door this year excited and ready to learn. They are bright, curious, and ready to be challenged and exposed to brand new topics and concepts. The majority of my students are Hispanic and come from low-income households.

These little superheroes are a vivacious group of learners with individual learning needs.

They are tech-savvy, but many of them don't have access to technology outside of these school walls.

My students have had little exposure to different forms of writing. They are worried and intimidated by the prospect of an upcoming state exam. My goal is to ease their worries and build their confidence as writers. I plan to show them that writing is essential to our community, and can be highly enjoyable as well!

My Project

All of my young students will take the state exam for the first time this year. This test determines whether or not they will be promoted to the next grade level. As you can imagine, this can be nerve-wracking for anyone..even more so to a child. I want to ease their worries and mold them into strong writers through fun, hands-on activities which they will be able to take full ownership of!

Please help them become the all-star writers they are meant to be!

Throughout the year, we will be learning about all forms of media and writing.

My students need a laptop, ink, editing materials, and various forms of paper. The materials I am requesting will be used to create a monthly newsletter to parents (written and illustrated by the students) keeping them informed of all our activities. They will also use the laptop for research, and to publish different pieces of writing.

This project will build their confidence as writers and help them see writing is more than just a paper and pencil. They will utilize familiar technology in order to create writing pieces they never dreamed possible!
