My Students
The student population that I teach consists of children from Kindergarten through middle school who require social and emotional support as well as autistic students and students with multiple disabilities. However, if you were to meet the students at our school, you would see that their abilities far outshine their disabilities and given the proper support through academics and the arts, our students rise to the occasion and shine bright like stars. My students have the capability and the grit to express themselves musically, theatrically, & artistically. Now they just need the tools to do it.
This Donors Choose Project will help our students be seen in a big way on our school stage.
Our students from our elementary and middle school sites will be performing on stage in a Holiday Spectacular in December, a Stoked for Spring show in mid February, and our middle school site will be putting on a play in May.
My Project
Over the past few years we have discovered that when we give our students the opportunity to get on stage and perform, we open up a brand new world to them. They become confident. They speak more and some speak up. They become leaders to their peers and stars to everyone lucky enough to be in the audience. Currently, we do not have reliable equipment to adequately support them to shine like they should. This spotlight will bring all of our school performances into the light. We have solo artists singers and aspiring musicians who are excited to truly share the spotlight!
