My Students

Learning while playing games is a teachers' best kept secret! Teaching students with special needs for the past 10 years, I have found that one of the best ways to get new concepts to "stick" is to introduce it through a game!

My students with special needs are a group of 2nd and 3rd graders.

They are living with various disabilities such as autism, emotional disturbance and developmental delays. These students come to school every day ready to learn despite some of their unstable home lives. Our school is located in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. The neighborhood our school is located in is considered to be a low income neighborhood.

My Project

Math is the universal language that is spoken all around the world! Important math skills, such as being able to count money, is essential for surviving in the world today. By allowing my students to engage in meaningful play that is geared towards these life skills, they will succeed with flying colors every time!

These essential math games will allow my students to build confidence and feel as if they are going to be contributing members of society in years to come.

They will be gaining experience and powerful knowledge all while playing educational games!
