My Students

I teach in an ICT classroom with 30 students. All students come from low-income households and many live in shelters. All students receive free breakfast and lunch every day. They come to school every day ready to learn and often don't want to go home because they want to continue learning.

My students are special because they are tenacious and they motivate and inspire me to be the best role model and teacher for them.

What I love about my students is their eagerness to learn. I am not only their teacher but I am their champion away from home.

My Project

The materials will help make a difference by building a listening center for students. Each student will be afforded their own headphones in which they will be accountable and teach them ownership. The headphones will make a difference in my students' learning because it will allow them to focus. The headphones will stop students from being distracted by outside noises while listening to audiobooks or working independently on computers or laptops.

The headphones and listening center will help students of different learning styles thrive and give them access to audiobooks.

Students in my class hear stories of all subjects (math, science, health) being read by the teacher, themselves, or a partner. By having a listening center students will be able to hear an outside voice read a story to them as they read along with a copy of the book. While listening students will be able to make different connections and answer questions about the text to help push their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
