My SpEd students bring a smile to my face daily, you can't help but want to help them learn everyday essential skills. Some have autism, Downs Syndrome, the medically fragile, and those who are mentally challenged. Each one holds a special place in my heart.
My Project
Since my class is a Career and Technology Education for students with Disabilities, these items, will help my 25 plus students get familiar with how to hand sew, hand knit, make accessories to go with outfits, and projects that will help them learn design styles. They will start off with projects like a tied fleece lap blanket, then move to sewing buttons and learning how to use the needle and thread, as well as learning how to embroidery their names, and create a doll/monster. Throughout this class they will learn how to sort laundry, use the washer and dryer, fold and put clean items away, as well as iron. These are all skills that we sometimes take for granted, but I believe everyone needs to learn these skills.
