Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our charter high school, our vocal students learn between 15-20 songs per choir. THAT IS A LOT OF MUSIC! Our musicians work incredibly hard in class each day (and at home!) to make sure they are prepared for concerts, community events, recruitment, and other various performances throughout the year.

With that many students cycling through our music classrooms, it is important that we all take good care of and respect our shared space.

These students do a surprisingly AMAZING job at keeping it clean, tidy, and organized. We have a large cabinet with slots to put their sheet music each day, but the missing piece is a folder to ensure the quality of the paper remains usable for years to come. Not only will this serve as an assigned "home" for their class materials each day, but can be used in performance for the occasional times we are not singing from memory! These black folders will provide a uniform and professional look to our ensemble that matches their sound and deportment!

To some, this may seem like a basic item to request, but any conductor will tell you that managing music is a full-time job! Thank you for helping not only my students as they grow in accountability and ownership over their supplies, but for allowing me to enforce a organizational system with ease! This will free up my own time to focus on the art we make together and to more comprehensively meet each students' needs! We appreciate you!
