Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What I love most about my students is that they embrace science when it's hands-on and innovative. They enjoy learning about science through real life experiences. Many come from different backgrounds but find a common ground when exploring through the eyes of science. I tend to implement many STEAM/STEAM projects and technology in my curriculum. Students take advantage of these projects and many times compete at the district level.

My Project

My students often see males represented in careers that have to do with technology, engineering, and science. I want to provide them with books that display real examples of women of different backgrounds that make a career out of STEM/STEAM related fields. Not only will they be able to see visuals of Women in Science through posters, but also have an opportunity to pick up a book and learn about how these women were inspired to go beyond the status quo.

I want my students, especially young females, to be inspired and relate to other females who made it in a STEM career.

Not only will this collection of books and posters inspire young female students but also get male students used to seeing females in these fields of work that are often represented by males. This will be a growing library of books and resources that can inspire all the different backgrounds that represent my school.
