My Students

"Can I sharpen my pencil?" or "Can I have a pencil?" These are questions that are a part of every classroom's daily routine and ours is no different. Now our sharpener has broken and our pencils are running out! We desperately need a new sharpener and some pencils!

I am an elementary-school teacher in New York.

We are a very low-income, high-needs community. Over 75% of our students receive free lunches. I teach very energetic, inquisitive 2nd grade students who need the tools to succeed. Pencils and a sharpener are the tools they need!

My Project

We have gone through numerous pencils and a sharpener this year! It is time for some new materials! We use pencils for everything from drawing a picture to solving a math problem. It is important to have sharpened pencils every day for the kids because the students don't have any of their own pencils. Our class needs a new sharpener and pencils because on average about twenty-three pencils are sharpened daily. This would help us greatly in our daily activities! Please help us out!

You will make it possible for my students to have sharpened pencils every day without fail.

This sharpener and these particular pencils are supposed to be the best, and I believe that my students deserve that and more. Thank you in advance!
