Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a diverse group of 7th and 8th graders in Chicago, where all students receive free lunch due to the financial challenges our community faces. Despite these obstacles, my students are eager learners who strive for excellence. They thrive on hands-on activities and creative lessons, and they have big dreams. Every day, they work hard to build the academic and life skills they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

Our classroom is in need of new electric pencil sharpeners and colored chart paper to support our daily learning.

The pencil sharpeners will ensure that students always have access to sharp pencils for note-taking, creative projects, and critical thinking exercises. We’ll also use colored chart paper to display our Common Core Standard questions, giving students a visual and organized way to track their progress and learning objectives.

With two fully automatic AFMAT electric pencil sharpeners, students will save time and frustration trying to sharpen their pencils manually. These sharpeners are especially helpful for colored pencils and large pencils used in creative projects, allowing students to focus more on their work and less on getting their tools ready.

The colored chart paper will be used to display essential questions aligned with the Common Core standards, which helps guide discussions and encourage deeper thinking. Displaying these questions will also give students a chance to visually engage with the goals for each lesson, supporting both their comprehension and retention.
