My Students
We are a small, K-8 school in a culturally diverse neighborhood in New York City. My students are enthusiastic, expressive, curious learners from different backgrounds. They are excited to learn and make amazing art projects. They love painting, drawing, sculpting with clay, and really anything they can be creative with! With budget cuts having affected New York public schools in recent years, it has become difficult for us to sometimes purchase even some of the most basic of supplies for our classroom.
My Project
In my art room, I use colored pencils with my students to teach them how to blend colors and create gradients. Often, they have to spend a lot of time getting up from their seats to sharpen their colored pencils. Not only can this be distracting to some students, but it is also time-consuming.
Having these quality handheld sharpeners, students will not even need to get up and their focus can remain on their masterpieces!
