This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a highly enthusiastic and diverse group of learners! They come from wonderful families with a strong commitment to education, who will support their children as best as they can to achieve successfully in the classroom and in the future.

Unfortunately, as this is a Title I school, many students do not have academic support beyond what I provide in the classroom.

It is my job to make school as fun and enriched as possible. I believe that enhancing the curriculum with supportive resources will enable my students to go further academically.

My Project

My students go through a tremendous amount of pencils each and every day. The amount of sharpening that is done baffles me...but we are doing a LOT of writing! Each time a child uses the sharpener, it distracts the rest of the class.

My goal is to have 2 high-quality sharpeners available to my students.

I consistently purchase less expensive sharpeners because of the costs involved, only to find that they do not hold up to the wear and tear that 30+ students in 5th grade bring!

This donation would enable me to set up two different sharpening stations in different areas of the classroom which would minimize distraction and promote longevity of this valuable tool!
