My Project

Reading nonfiction and informational texts is always a skill that we work on at our school. The science magazines always have such fun and interesting articles that I use in a variety of ways for my classroom. They can be used for a "hook" to get the students interested in our next topic, used as reinforcement to review something that we have already learned about, used to show new technologies that are being worked on, or used to introduce the students to STEM careers that they may not have even thought about and that they may be interested in pursuing when they graduate from high school.

With these materials, my students will be able to read about science and then write about it.

With sharp pencils, a blank page, and creative minds, the students can draw pictures, write summaries, etc. about what they are reading about. What an awesome way this is for them to connect to the world that we live in.
