This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a public elementary school in Illinois where 100% of our students come from low income households. We are finally back in the classroom and loving every minute of it. With all the changes, we are looking to make the most of our time and make it as comfortable and safe as possible.
My Project
It's hard to believe that we are halfway through the 2021-2022 school year. We've made it this far, and there are just some house cleaning items we need at this point. The students use manual sharpeners to sharpen the class colored pencils, and we also need an electric sharpener for regular pencils. Something that has really helped us stay organized is copying certain recurring handouts on colored paper, so that they don't get confused with older versions, and are easier to find.
Our students are still ravishing through our classroom library.
As we move on to our nonfiction focus unit, I am in search of more nonfiction, social studies topic books for my students. My goal is to expand their geography knowledge before they move on to 6th grade and have Social Studies class next year.
