Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is at the crossroads of the world. We service students primarily from the surrounding neighborhood, but they represent a global population of recently arrived immigrants from all across the world. They come to us seeking the opportunity to learn and share in the American promise.

We are a small school housed within a campus of many small schools.

As new students to the United States, they face many difficulties. They not only face an up-hill struggle to learn the subject matter, but must also to acclimate to a new culture, language and environment. In order to overcome the language and cultural barriers, we use projects to engage and enrich the learning experience in every discipline. We encourage and foster cooperation and collaboration among all students and staff thus creating a school-wide learning environment of mutual respect and understanding of diverse cultures.

My Project

As students progress through the various projects, they are asked to present what they have learned with their teachers and classmates. What better way to share with everyone involved than to digitally record the process and store it onto recording media? Presently we have video camcorder, thanks to DonorsChoose, so we can record classroom activities and presentations. We now need a way to store our videos and share them with others that will not clutter the hard drives of our computers. With a CD/DVD duplicator and blank media, we can use the software on our computers to compile student projects and make copies for our students to share and keep as mementos.

Please help me help those most in need.

Your act of kindness and generosity will have a long lasting impact on our students. Help me make learning fun and engaging. Thank you for your generosity.
