My Project

At our school, more than 50% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and nearly all of our students come from low-income households.

We want to help our students become more culturally aware of our differences and similarities by celebrating different holidays throughout the year.

Every year, we celebrate Lunar New Year with a festive lion dance. This year, we would love to help add to the celebration with red envelopes stuffed with chocolate coins and lion puppets, so we can share the traditions of our Asian classmates. One of our favorite traditions is to pass out red envelopes with chocolate coins to our school friends and wish them a "Prosperous Lunar New Year."
