Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our class we have created a Kindness Squad. We have had several opportunities to serve our classmates and school. We have taken the time to clean up our school grounds and make fun bookmarks for our peers. We are excited to incorporate more opportunities to serve. Community service is one of the best ways to teach a child the value of empathy. Not only does it show kids kindness, compassion, and selflessness, but it can also teach them a variety of life skills. Community service builds ties. When students get involved in serving those around them, they become more invested in their community as well.

In this project there are Pom Poms that we will use once a month to welcome all the students as they get dropped off in the mornings. We also are asking for things like Croc Charms, Croc Charm Bracelets, Gift Bags, Candy and Stuffed Animals to make gift bags to brand new students that arrive to our school.

When we serve others we become more aware of our surroundings and the people we encounter in our daily life. With this project, I hope to teach my students to be compassionate, caring, and empathetic.
