My Project

My students are a group of highly energetic, amazing children with autism in grades 1-5. In my classroom, we encourage learning through play. Learning through play is highly beneficial for children's development for several reasons. It encourages active engagement, fosters creativity, and builds important life skills in a fun and natural way.

Magna-Tiles are an excellent tool for kids because they offer numerous developmental benefits while being fun and engaging.

STEM Learning: Magna-Tiles encourage kids to explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts in a hands-on way. Building structures helps children understand balance, symmetry, geometry, and spatial relationships.

Creativity and Imagination: The magnetic tiles allow for open-ended play, enabling children to build whatever they imagine—houses, castles, vehicles, or abstract shapes. This stimulates creativity and problem-solving skills.

Fine Motor Skills: As kids snap the magnetic tiles together, they develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. The process of aligning and connecting pieces helps strengthen dexterity.

Critical Thinking: Building with Magna-Tiles requires children to plan, experiment, and troubleshoot. They learn how different shapes and angles work together and can figure out how to make their designs stand up or stay connected.

Collaboration and Social Skills: Magna-Tiles are often used in group play, which helps kids work together, communicate ideas, share, and problem-solve in teams, all of which are important social skills.

Cause and Effect: When a child builds something and it falls, they learn about cause and effect. They can experiment with different designs, test their creations, and improve them.
