Shamrocks Digital Photo Class

My Students

We are a small rural school district located in the northernmost reaches of New York State. We are nestled in the foothills of the Adirondacks, and on the shore of the Saint Lawrence, as well as the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation. Thanks to Title VII and the Johnson O’Malley federally-funded programs, our school district provides educational enrichment programming for its Mohawk student population, which comprises 66 percent of the total school enrollment.

Digital Photography and Yearbook Club are becoming very popular for high school students and our school budget does not currently have the means to buy the needed technology and items necessary for this class and club.

My Project

The Digital Photography class that I teach is becoming a popular class in high school. At the moment we do not have enough accessories needed class. Students sign out the cameras to take home so they need carrying cases, cleaning kits, and lens caps. To save/upload their images they need the SD cards and readers.

Digital Photography is something that the student looks forward to because it is not like any other classes.

I'm so proud of the artwork my high school students create! Last year we had a few winning student photos in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!!

This school year's budget has already been allocated for funding which could not account for these items still needed for the class.

They are extremely talented students and deserve more photography accessories so that I can expose them to a well rounded art education experience, as well as, keep the equipment maintained.
