My Project

In order for students to acquire and hone skills to become future-focused and contribute to civic discourse as active citizens, it is imperative that they engage in active learning about the intersection between technology and storytelling in our society. Further, it is necessary to design and implement real-world learning experiences in how that concept shapes our world. It would significantly increase the potential to use the robots more often, and infuse robotics and storytelling into literacy-based courses, including technical reading and writing courses.

Pairing robotics and storytelling is by far students’ absolute favorite learning experience.

Staging the robots as thespians draws many parallels with the experience of directing a stage production with human thespians. The production of live theatre itself is interdisciplinary in nature, requiring a myriad of talent to collaborate from various disciplines to create the experience of a live stage performance such as engineering and math. Learners can dig into the subtext of a play, enhancing their comprehension. Students develop empathy for the characters in a story by actualizing the characters through the use of the robots. It is a conspicuous way to display the given circumstances of a story, and the students are able to better relate to the text’s themes and lessons.
