My Project

This year my students have fallen in love with carving as a decorative process. In order to do this work, they need a solid set of class tools. We are growing as a program and as such, we need to keep up with demand for materials and supplies.

Kemper makes high quality tools and these wire loops are perfect for sgraffito and mishima techniques.

Sgraffito is the most common usage for these tools (it's even in the name!). We coat the clay in a colored underglaze and then use the tools to carve away the color and reveal the clay beneath. When used with a high contrast color such as blue or black, the line designs simply POP!
