The students will explore circuits in an engaging manner by learning to sew and connect circuits using conductive thread. Each student will have the opportunity to craft an item and present it.
7th-grade students will create and design a pin.
They will also learn how to promote their pin effectively, without actually selling it. Beginning with a design on paper, they will transfer it onto a felt template and incorporate circuits through sewing. They will then share their pins with classmates and discuss their advertising strategies.
8th-grade students will design and bring to life a character of their choice. After deciding on a character, they will sketch it on paper, transfer it to felt, and add circuit components through sewing. Upon completing their character, they will write a short piece of 4-5 sentences featuring their character.
We will be missing one component which I will have to purchase elsewhere and that is the LilyPad Slide Switch which is not offered through any of the offered sites on DonorsChoose.
