My Project

Fabric is an ever-present part of our lives from clothing, linens, and furniture; it is always around us and can impact our mood and our ability to engage in the space around us. I love being able to share my love of fabric by teaching sewing to my students and watching them explore and grow in their creative abilities. Sewing is tremendous visual art as well as encompassing all that our school is developing thru our STEAM curriculum. It utilizes math and measuring, and sewing with a machine develops technology skills and furthers their understanding of engineering, learning how the fabric is made and how it will respond to heat, dye, stretching, etc. is science.

Teaching young people to sew thru a STEAM curriculum is powerful and satisfying!
