My Students

These students inspire me every day! They are Trailblazers (Literally, it's our school mascot)! Together they have endured so much and always have a positive attitude despite these COVID challenges. They are an eager bunch of middle schoolers, who seem to always be looking for new ways to create.

We are a newish school so our class is pretty small, but that doesn't stop us from making a big splash in our community!

We have been fortunate enough to attend some virtual field trips this year and outdoor sculpture walks this past semester. We look forward to returning to in-person schooling, however, our art student is pretty bare. I hope that Donors Choose will help support building up our art space and changing lives through creating.

My Project

These supplies are for an Expeditions partnership with an amazing non-profit, the Sewing Labs! In this class, students will learn the basics of sewing and eventually work up to putting on their own fashion show.

Scholars will learn hand sewing, machine sewing, sustainable fashion, and the history of textiles in Kansas City.

These supplies will allow students to learn to create their own clothing line as well as market themselves. Your donation will help middle school students discover their own power through the making process.
