Help me give my students sewing supplies and storage containers for the supplies so they can learn how to hand sew for clothing repair.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They are eager to learn new skills! My classroom is limited on the supplies we have.

My Project

My classroom is a place where students learn valuable skills that will stay with them for life. Not only do they learn life skills such as leadership and communication skills, they learn skills that can help their family with an already tight budget. One way I do this is through sewing.

Sewing is a hands-on way to get students involved in school work and give a sense of accomplishment.

My students will learn how to mend clothing, such as repairing a rip, hemming, and replacing a button. They will learn that clothes aren't ruined because of a little rip. While learning how to sew, they will learn communication skills and character traits like confidence, patience, and creativity.
