My students need a sewing machine and a cricut to increase our makerspace section. These tools will teach students about how things are made and will increase their imagination and their awareness of things around them.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our Title I school is 99% low SES. 60% of our school are Spanish speakers. We love learning about different cultures and creating a community for our students. We are all family and believe that we should build each other up instead of tearing each other down. By pairing Spanish speakers with English speakers, we are able to bridge the language gap and teach each student how special we all are and how important it is to get along with everyone.
My Project
Students will learn to sew things such as pillow cases, lunch bags, and other items. This will help their understanding of how things are made and where things come from. Students will have an opportunity to see how their ideas can go from a digital idea to a concrete idea using the Cricut and design space. This will help students increase their imagination, along with math skills, cutting and fine motor, and language. Students will have an opportunity at school to learn skills other than reading and writing. These skills will stay with them and grow with them as they mature.
