My Students

My students want to learn new things, they are interested in new things, they eager to be exposed to new things. I would like to give them an opportunity to learn a new skill that will benefit them for a lifetime.

My Project

Here at Brownsville, we have top-notch students who love challenges. I would like to bring to this the craft of sewing. Our students have the mental capacity to grasp basic sewing concepts and sufficient manual dexterity to work a sewing machine.

In fact, middle school age is the perfect age for them to learn the craft.

Knowing how to sew, for anyone, is a useful life skill with lifelong practical applications and many health benefits. To sew requires concentration and focus, problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills. It challenges the brain thinking and is a great way to express one's creativity and individuality.

Ms. ROPER-MILLER Brownsville Middle School Grades 6-8

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
