My Project

This year I have taken a new position in a Special Education School in the NYC Department of Education. I will be a Special Education Teacher in a 12:1:1, K-2 Classroom for students with Autism. I am very excited to have this opportunity. Since it is a new grade level, with multiple grades, with students with more intense needs, I will need different resources. For many of my students, this will be their first school experience. I will be teaching students the vocabulary and behaviors of school, along with the academic curriculum. We will also be working on social skills.

My wonderful students will require visuals, sensory supports, and explicit instruction to meet school expectations.

The floor tiles, crayons, and other materials that I am asking for will help me create the visuals, social stories, charts, and provide the sensory materials that will support students during the transition to the classroom.
