My Students

I teach an amazing group of students with special needs in an urban title one charter school in a large city. They come to school every day excited and ready to learn! They want to learn so much about the world around them and what's beyond the walls of our classroom. However, the students that I work with bring a lot of baggage into our classroom and it is my job to help them leave that baggage at the door, be kids for a while and learn through fun and exciting ways.

My students disabilities range from Autism to Learning Disabilities and I find that the more hands on and interactive learning can be, the more beneficial it is to my students.

Due to their disabilities, I am constantly changing up my teaching practices and finding new and exciting ways to reach and challenge my students without having them become frustrated and give up.

My Project

It's the time of the school year, where you start to think about the excitement of the new year to come! While starting to think about that, there are always supplies that my students (and I) need to start the year off strong!

Mr. Sketch Smelly Markers make every anchor chart better!

These markers make anchor charts stand out with their bright colors and the students love the smells (and trying to guess which ones are which)! They help make amazing anchor charts that my students can use all year long! Being able to laminate activities for my students means that it will last for years to come! These activities can then be used in many different ways, and the students and I don't have to worry about them falling apart. My students need help with organizational skills and so being able to have different containers for all of our classroom materials is key to help with that.
