My Students

I teach fifth grade reading in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma! My students are a diverse group with varied levels. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn, but in a non-traditional way. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches. These kids have the biggest hearts you'll ever come across.

Every single one of my students has integrity, compassion, and a positive attitude.

They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the project-based learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better environment for these students. We are truly a community!

My Project

My students love literacy! We try to incorporate as many modes of learning in our reading lessons as possible. One of the favorites in our class is art! We create representations of our vocabulary, our novels and even our own stories we have written. We love using our new 3Doodler pens to make 3D representations of our projects.

Adding art and a bit of our own creativity helps keep my students engaged, focused, and energized.

They have seen that learning can be fun!

Our school does not have an art program, so infusing art with our 3Doodler pens is one way that we can bridge that gap. These tools and books will be used in a variety of lessons and tied into the novels we read in class. We will write, sing, and perform our own Hip Hop Poetry and use the Skeleton Creek novels in our book clubs!
