Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a 4th grade, ICT classroom (Integrated Co-Teaching) which is an inclusion room with students with and without disabilities. As we come back from a trauma-filled year, creating a calm classroom where students feel welcome is the most important.

We are a high-needs, Title I school located in a low-income neighborhood.

I am a teacher in a high poverty/low-income school district. My students are faced with challenges in and out of the classroom, especially in relation to what's happening in the world. My goal is to create a caring classroom environment where students receive meaningful and applicable learning experiences every day.

My Project

These materials include pencils, erasers, grips, and more everyday materials that support student learning. We are also asking for some organizational baskets for books, headphones, math practice boards, and artificial plants for a calm, welcoming environment after a traumatic last year.

Our goal is to provide these students with basic materials that will support their learning as well as create an atmosphere where students will feel at home.

As we are still unsure of what the year will look like, I am asking for a bulk order of headphones for students to bring to and from home. In case of at-home learning, they will be prepared if they live in a noisy environment. These will also help with in-class educational videos. Setting up the year with the basic materials will make the kids comfortable knowing they have what they need to succeed. It also helps with the flow of the day so every student can have what they need in their desk, ready to go! Thank you!
