This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our charter school stands as a beacon of hope for students of color from low-income communities. We strive to get students to and through the college of their dreams and have seen first-hand the opportunities and doors college opens for our students. Sports have a transformative power over students, which allows them to express themselves for who they are and will enable them to apply for and receive scholarships. Tennis, unfortunately being a sport associated with exclusivity, has the potential to break barriers students in East Las Vegas face. Tennis will promote health and well-being and allow them to stand out in ways not possible before. However, we are reaching out for support, with tennis costs being a financial hurdle. Having the basic materials like tennis rackets and tennis nets allows us to cultivate the skills and passion necessary for the sport right here at school instead of having them spend thousands on private lessons. Your contribution will not only help get equipment but will give opportunities to students who could never imagine they could play an exclusive sport and use that sport to help them get into college. I appreciate your support.
