My Students
My students and their families have sought out and selected our school to provide an enriching educational environment for their children. Our integrated units of study provide multiple entry points for learning to meet the varied learning needs of all students. Through these studies, students learn how to learn.
They truly take on the roles of researchers, engineers, scientists, nutritionists, and mathematicians.
Almost all of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students understand that they have a place in the world and are more than capable of making an important contribution. They learn to become flexible, resilient, and creative thinkers who are able to work collaboratively and solve problems.
My Project
I looped up with my class! That means I have a first-grade classroom library that needs to be upgraded to a second-grade classroom library. Although I have many books that can span both first and second grade, these series books will really get my kids excited about being SECOND GRADE readers!
My students are so excited to read longer books and they love reading books in a series.
Once they find a series they love, there is no stopping them. As we have re-entered the school building this year, I can see how grateful my students are to hold a real book in their hands (instead of reading on their devices).
I have chosen books that are high interest for this age group; they have wholesome and engaging storylines. I have also chosen these series books, in particular because they feature characters that reflect my students' diverse backgrounds.
