Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many students come into the classroom with stress, anxiety, and challenges that can hinder their ability to focus and learn effectively. As an English teacher, I have always incorporated social emotional learning into my curriculum.

I am committed to providing my students with a calm learning environment they can feel safe in.

The colorful fairy lights and salt lamp will create a relaxing atmosphere and improve their mood. The Echo Dot will play music that will reduce stress and promote relaxation. The visual and auditory elements of the tabletop fountain will encourage mindfulness and provide a focal point for calming moments or transitions between activities. The various posters will offer mental health reminders and positive affirmations. The mental health workbooks and journal prompts will be valuable tools for supporting the students’ emotional wellbeing and fostering a positive classroom environment. They will be included in the teacher’s SEL curriculum and used daily as bellringers.

My students will love the calm classroom materials and supplies, which will create a calm mood through visuals, lighting, and sound. The knowledge they will gain from the materials will provide coping strategies, foster emotional expression, and encourage positive thinking. Overall, donations of calming materials contribute to a more balanced supportive, and effective learning environment for my students.
