My students need supplies such as a teacher analog clock, big class thermometer, hundred number chart, character plush toys, picture globe, pencil sharpener.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school everyday with a smile on their face, ready to learn and become college ready. In our class we work as a "team" to make each other better and accomplish anything that comes our way!
I teach at a large school in New York City where 100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from a low income family and lack the resources needed to extend their knowledge at home. Despite so many hardships, my students come to school ready to do their best and learn all they can so they can be successful.
My Project
Not only are these kids learning to read, but they are also entering a nurturing environment. I have requested a teacher analog clock, thermometer, base ten pocket chart, and hundred number chart because my students need to be engaged during the morning meeting. Morning Meeting is an effective way to start each day, and build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically. I believe it is very important for young children to be greeted in the morning and have a chance to come together and learn collaboratively.
I have also requested for different plush toys of popular book characters.
Young children love read aloud and are very engaged when the character is there for them to hold and feel in real life. I requested a sharpener for the students to get a chance to sharpen their own pencils in the morning. For September I will have an Eric Carle theme and have requested for different Eric Carle accessories. I can’t wait to make my classroom a positive learning environment!
