My Students

I've been keeping my eyes on these hands-on learning sensory bins. These bins would provide learning through the sense of touch.

My school is a small, Title I school where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program.

Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are 16 different languages spoken at my school. Most are English language learners, speaking English as their second language. My kindergarten students come to school daily eager to learn.

My Project

My students will use the sensory bins in all content areas. They can search for letters in the sand to help spell their names. For math, they can find the numbers in order, or sort items by color after discovering them hidden in the sensory materials. In science, they can extract fossils, rocks, or plant seeds in dirt. All these lessons will help with social studies, as they work together as a team to accomplish their common goal. These sensory tubs can be filled with sand, fake snow, water, and bubbles and soap to help my scholars experience different textures and materials. They will build their vocabulary by describing the sensory materials.

My students will be excited to search for letters and numbers. They will want to learn why items sink and float in water. These sensory tubs and materials will help motivate and energize my students to learn more every day and reach their highest potential.
