My Students

My students are sensory seekers! They need additional resources to help them calm their bodies and prepare them for learning.

I teach a preschool class consisting of 3, 4, and 5 year old children.

Many of them are experiencing school for the first time and are excited to explore their environment. My students have developmental delays and require additional resources to access their environment and meet their many sensory needs. They attend a large public school in a typical classroom. This presents the challenge of creating a class that is developmentally appropriate in both size and materials. My preschool students are eager learners and deserve the best!

My Project

I am requesting tools to help my students with their various sensory needs. The Squoosh chair will provide positive pressure to help my students who have difficulty calming their bodies. This helps them know where their bodies are in space and focuses them in the classroom. The Pea Pod give students a place to sit, while providing sensory support for their bodies. This can be both a calmer and a physical support tool. The Spacewalk cushion helps develop balance during movement activities and can be folded to provide positive pressure for a child that needs calming. All of these tools provide feedback to our students with various sensory needs and helps them focus to prepare for exploring and learning in the classroom.

This project will supply sensory resources that we desperately need to help our students function in a classroom setting.

They require these tools to help regulate and calm their bodies. Without additional sensory support, many of my students are unable to participate in important learning activities. Thank you for your support!
