This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It's getting towards the end of the school year and my students are starting to panic about their grades (especially the seniors). As the social worker, my role is to chat with students when they are amped up, de-escalate them as necessary, and to attempt to give them coping skills to use throughout the day.
I've noticed an uptick in the number of students (and staff) who come to my room specifically to play hopscotch on the few amazing sensory tiles I have.
Every morning we play fun music as the students walk in to school in hopes of making their day a bit brighter. Ideally, I'd like ALL students to be able to use these sensory tiles... by putting them in the main lobby of our school, so that every student to HOP into the day with a smile on their face!
