My Students

My students overcome obstacles every day that might seem simple to the average person. I get the joy of teaching students with multiple disabilities; including physical, cognitive delays and intellectual disabilities such as down syndrome and autism.

Despite their disabilities, my students are funny, creative, smart and caring towards each other.

We are a specialized school within the NYC Dept. of Education located in Queens. Each day in our classroom is an adventure filled with opportunities to learn and grow. My students need materials to help increase their independence and communication.

My Project

My classroom is seeking these materials to help support the development of a new sensory center. Our class will be utilizing these supplies to help reinforce all of the lessons of the upcoming school year through a multi sensory approach. The smocks will be used to help protect the students during water play. We will be using the letters and numbers as materials to be used in scavenger hunts during sensory time. In addition we will also be working on supporting our student knowledge of colors with the crayons. All of these materials will be stored in the containers that will be labeled to allow the students independence when accessing these materials.
