Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The past year of distanced and hybrid-learning has disproportionately negatively impacted people from low-income households, and Black and Brown communities.

Our students have risen above these challenges with strength, care, and love for their school community.

They have expressed joy through visual art, dramatic skits, and a classroom newspaper. In eager anticipation of seeing all students in-person next year, I hope to provide them with impactful, research-based strategies to support their social, emotional, and physical well-being.

My Project

By providing sensory tools and supports, such as weighted lap pads, visual art supplies, an interactive floor tile, and a light table, we can help meet the physical and emotional needs of our students to maximize their academic potential. Also, a beanbag chair will provide a flexible seating option the increases students' comfort and provides sensory support. The hearing protectors will help our students sensitive to sound focus on assignments and tests.

These tools will increase students' alertness, sense of physical well-being, and academic engagement.

The products will empower me and my fellow teachers to address the social-emotional learning needs of their students while providing impactful instruction. Additionally, we can utilize the tools to build a space on campus that is devoted to social-emotional and sensory learning. My sincere gratitude for considering donating and helping me advocate for the holistic education of my students!
