This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Speech therapy is a vital intervention for individuals with speech and language challenges, aimed at improving their communication skills and overall quality of life. However, traditional speech therapy methods may not always effectively engage individuals, particularly those with sensory processing difficulties. To address this issue, this project proposes the acquisition of sensory items to enhance speech therapy lessons. By incorporating sensory elements, we aim to create a more immersive and effective learning environment for our students.

The project will involve the procurement of various sensory items carefully selected to cater to the diverse needs of our students.

These items may include tactile materials such as textured balls, squishy toys, and sensory bins filled with different textures like rice or sand. Additionally, auditory aids like noise-cancelling headphones, musical instruments, and sound-producing toys will be included. Visual aids such as colorful flashcards, light-up toys, and visual schedules will also be incorporated.

The integration of sensory items into speech therapy lessons has the potential to revolutionize the way we support individuals with speech and language challenges. Through this project, we aim to create a more inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment for our students, ultimately empowering them to reach their full communication potential. We are confident that with the support of funding, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and their families.
