My Project

I work at a Title I school in Philadelphia, PA. I teach 12 K-2 autistic students and we are in great need of a designated sensory space within the class. Most students with autism suffer from sensory issues and these items will help them process those needs.

Our program promotes play and behavior mangement as well.

These items will help students learn to self soothe when their sensory needs overwhelm them. This area would give them a safe space to relax and be able to continue with their academic skills. Having a space like this in the classroom will also deter elopement risks if we have to transition the students from the class.
