This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students cannot process the sensory stimuli coming at them every moment. The result is extreme frustration for them and others. However, with your help, they will be able to regulate their physical needs in order to learn academics.

The students in my class are full of personality, but struggle with learning challenges like Autism Spectrum Disorders, severe ADHD, severe speech disorders, visual impairments, deafness/hard of hearing, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.

Our K-6 elementary school is in a rural, agricultural area, with many students living below the poverty line. My class currently has 12 students in grades K, 1, 2 and 3.

My Project

My class is structured to teach academic skills at each student's level. The tools I am requesting will address students' physical and sensory needs so they be able to focus on academic learning in the following ways: The Bodysox will provide help with coordination/balance, appropriate stimulation, and creative movement. The Theraputty will give tactile input and improve fine motor skills. The weighted shoulder snake will help children calm down and regulate their bodies while working on academics. Moreover, these durable items can be used in future years.
