Sensory Sensations for Special Needs Learners!

My Project

I would love to create a space in my Special Education classroom for my learners to use sensory play to meet their learning and movement needs. These sensory items will provide opportunities for my students to take breaks when needed and engage in a calming activity that will allow them to return to our lessons feeling ready to learn.

Providing flexible seating options, tactile materials such as kinetic sand, sensory tiles, and fidget items will allow my Special Education learners to take productive breaks that minimize distractions to others while matching specific sensory needs.

My classroom is made up of students with Autism, ADHD, and processing and behavioral disorders and are a wonderful group of 3-5th graders who love to explore and ask questions about the world around them. Their unique learning styles mean they need help with sensory input and often need breaks. These materials will be greatly appreciated and loved by my students!
