This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hi! I have been teaching 5th grade for the past 9 years and have recently switched to 2nd grade. I have been working at a K-8 Center which is located in the heart of South Beach!

We tend to use the phrase "Miami is the melting pot of the world," where cultures unite as one.

If I had to describe my class, that would be a perfect description. Not only is my class a blend of different cultures, but also a blend of personalities. I have several students with special needs, as well as students who need a little boost to get them caught up.

My Project

In my class this year I have several students who are on the autism spectrum. I also have a student who has low muscle tone and sometimes can get overwhelmed with running around on the hot field during P.E. and recess. Many times throughout the day these students become overwhelmed with everything going around. The ball and bucket drum set and airplane teeter totter will be a perfect addition in our school sensory garden. When the students become overwhelmed, they will be able to take a break in the garden which is located by my classroom and bang away their feelings.
