Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are each amazing individuals with unique personalities just like kids in general education. They are all nonverbal students. My goal is to create a learning space that meets the sensory and social-emotional needs of my students. With the Squoosh Chair my students can have the independence and comfort in sitting during circle time activities. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Sensory supports can ease anxiety, calm an overestimated student, and encourage basic foundational skills.
These sensory tools will encourage students to get their bodies ready to learn, foster independence, and will help build a sense of community!
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The sensory necklaces and chew tubes will help my students who like to put things in their mouth and reduce the spread of germs.
