Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With the requested chalkboard kit, play dough, paint brushes, posters, and other resources, I am creating a calming corner for my students to feel more relaxed.

This space with your help will help to create and develop essential self-regulation skills and normalize managing emotion in a healthy way.

It will help to shift the perspective from punitive to positive, and regulating emotions becomes a normal and empowering aspect of classroom life. When students are able manage their emotions, thoughts and behavior they are able to focus and learn more.

In occupational therapy a calming corner will serve to help build self-regulation skills for the non-verbal autism population.
