My Students
Every day I have the awesome opportunity to teach some of the most amazing and hardworking students that I have ever met. I teach high school students with Autism. I am always amazed at their unique way of learning and I am constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to best serve their specific learning needs. My school's mission is to help all students have successful post-secondary lives by teaching them necessary life skills. We encourage students to hone daily living and work skills through community-based learning and through the utilization of technology.
My Project
A sensory room is a therapeutic safe space designed to aid all students with sensory processing issues. Adding these bean bags to the sensory room will help in aiding us to provide our students with a calming atmosphere. This space will help students to focus themselves so that they can be better prepared for the days learning activities.
Our sensory room will help us to provide a fun therapeutic way for individuals to work through their responses to external stimuli.
Completing our sensory room with these objects will help to improve focus, concentration and alertness in our students with autism.
