My Project

The items I have requested will be used to set up a small office space as a sensory room for young children. As a Head Start agency, we work with some of the most vulnerable young children in our community.

Our children come to us with rough home lives, limited resources, and many who have suffered some sort of trauma in their very young lives.

Adding these resources will engage children in a sensory experience that will allow them to practice self-regulation, calming and mindfulness.

The classroom that this will project will support currently serves children with multiple social/emotional and mental health needs. The space that this project would create would allow for children to leave the classroom when they are overstimulated, dysregulated, upset, anxious, etc and give them a safe space to breathe, calm and recenter themselves in order to rejoin the classroom.
