Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach preschoolers with autism who are experiencing school life for the first time. Many of them have never been around other children in this type of setting before. Therefore, a lot of them struggle with separation anxiety and self-regulation.

I would like to help my students be able to regulate their emotions and make them feel more comfortable at school.

A lot of them also still take naps and often fall asleep in my class. The rug, dividers, headphones, wall sensory items, and chewys are so I can make a calming corner in the class. This will give my students a place to go and calm down if they are overstimulated or sleepy.
