Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a proud first grade teacher in a separate class of thirteen students with autism spectrum disorder. I love to interact with these fantastic and enthusiastic students while trying to improve their academic skills. They come every day ready to learn. However, they lack concentration and focus, which makes them struggle with the foundations of reading. They need some extra encouragement and hands-on activities to be motivated.

The Sensory Reading Buddies project will provide my students with a comfortable and cozy time to navigate through the magic of a book and engage in reading while sitting in these ergonomic ball chairs and holding stuffed animals.

Reading allows children to explore new places and ideas. It facilitates a deeper insight into what students are learning in the classroom. It maximizes their knowledge as well. Please, help me give my ASD classroom these sensory chairs with matching stuffed animals to encourage them to read, develop their imagination, and achieve mastery of their educational goals.
